Single-payer Medicare for all would save money

The Daily Herald - 10/5/2017

No one should be without access to medical care. There is no reason for the care any one of us receives to be based on our job or how much money we have. And the best, most efficient way to ensure everyone gets care is through a single-payer system, similar to how Medicare works for the elderly.

Americans pay more for health care than those in any of the 30 countries that have a single-payer system, nearly twice as much on average. Over 30 percent of total health care spending in the United States is on billing, enrollment and other administrative costs, over $360 billion according to the New England Journal of Medicine. It is estimated that this cost could be cut in half by adopting a single-payer system.

Lower costs and everyone gets medical care when they need it. A single-payer system, such as Medicare for all, is the best approach for all of us. Call your members of Congress today to tell them so.
