If you are someone in Wyoming County living with disabilities

Livingston County News - 10/11/2017

If you are someone in Wyoming County living with disabilities, there is a voting seminar coming to teach about rights and regulations for residents.

This Thursday, Independent Living of the Genesee Region is holding a free seminar on disability access to a polling place.

According to the ILGR, people with disabilities most frequently submit absentee ballots, which are counted after the initial ballots.

But under the Help America Vote Act of 2002, every polling location has access to machines and ballots to accommodate, for instance, blind voters or those with limited limb use.

More information on these machines, casting a ballot and wheelchair accessibility will be discussed at the seminar.

The event is from 2-3:30 p.m. this Thursday, October 12 at the ILGR office, located at 6470 Route 20A in Perry.

To pre-register, RSVP to Donna Becker at (585) 815-8501, ext. 411 or at dbecker@wnyil.org.
