MOLAND NEWS: 101st birthday celebration, family league bowling and Illuminated Manuscript at KODA Nursing Home

Everyone in Moland sends a very special Happy Birthday to Vivian Steffen, who celebrated her 101st birthday on Feb. 4. Vivian lives at Sterling House in Owatonna. Send her a birthday card this week and let her know you're thinking about her. Also happy birthday to Alex Noble and Keith Derscheid.

Also a special Happy Birthday to my niece, Karyn Jeseritz, who celebrates her birthday on Feb. 8. I hope you have a really nice birthday, Karyn.

Pam Seaser and I enjoyed having a great pizza on Friday night at Pizzeria 201 in Montgomery.

Upcoming events in Moland are the Annual Meeting with a soup potluck on Feb. 11, as well as Family League Bowling on Sunday, Feb. 18 in Owatonna. A sign-up sheet is at church, but you can also call Christine Behne to let her know you'd like to come. Cost is $5/person, and the Family League will pick up the rest of the expense. Sounds like a fun day!

On Saturday I went to help Kris and Ron unpack boxes from moving to the new house they built in Prior Lake. Chuck and Lori helped them get a little organized on Friday too. They have a beautiful house on a really nice piece of land in the country. Karen Mills and I had breakfast with Ron and Krissy, and Brianna and Dylan Novak came over later in the morning to see the progress.

The Illuminated Manuscript of the St. John Bible will be on display at KODA Nursing Home in Owatonna from Feb. 26-March 16. Those who have seen it say it's a beautiful thing to see, so if you're in Owatonna later this month, stop by and see it. KODA Nursing Home is located off of 35W on 26th Street NW.

Ryan Block participated in the Blooming Prairie Wrestling Tourney this weekend. Ryan went up a weight class and went 3-0 with 2 pins and a major decision. Awesome, Ryan!!

Will Resch, who is a member of the K-M Komets' basketball team, played a hard-fought game Tuesday night against the Tigers of Lake City. Karla, Will's mom, and Julie Broin attended the game. Even though the Komets didn't end up on top, it was a great game and was really fun to watch. Good job, Will! You are a fantastic player and a good kid. Plans are to attend another game in the near future.

Julie and Maggie Broin spent Saturday evening at the Cannon River Winery listening to the Shasta Kings, featuring our cousin, Mike Chinander, and Scott Rogness, both of Owatonna. The music was great, and the place was packed. The highlight of the evening was their rendition of Neil Young's Harvest Moon. This group is really fun to listen to, so watch to see where they may be playing in the future and check them out.
