Nursing home opens in Delphos

Feb. 16--DELPHOS -- The Meadows of Delphos is officially open for business. The nursing home joins a number of similar health facilities in the region operating under Trilogy Health Services.

"It's an honor to have a campus here in Delphos. I'd like to welcome them," Delphos Mayor Josh Gillespie said during the facility's ribbon-cutting event.

The 80-resident healthcare facility offers assisted living, memory care, short-term rehabilitation, long-term care, nursing respite care and outpatient therapy and focuses on giving seniors an experience that feels natural, Executive Director Amber Merriman said.

For example, The Meadows of Delphos offers family-style five-star dining for its residents, easily accessible community areas, daily activities and regular supervised outings. Rooms can come fully furnished depending on preference, and individuals have control over their private room's temperature and access to private baths in each unit.

"We're a people-first company. Taking care of people is what we do for a living," Trilogy CEO Randy Bufford said. "We'd encourage people to come look and feel (the culture). You really can't put it down in black and white. You can talk about it, but until you experience it -- the smiling faces, the responsiveness of the staff -- those are kind of those values that we seek."

Bufford said Delphos was a good spot for expansion because of its close location to other Meadow facilities in Ottawa, Leipsic and Kalida. Trilogy Health Services also operates Springview Manor in Lima, the Springs of Lima and Richland Manor in Bluffton. The proximity of similar facilities helps the company easily share employees and training between its regional nursing homes.

"We can share resources. We operate as a cohesive unit, and I think, for example, if you're doing training, there might be an expert in medical records at one. If they're nearby, you can go do that," Bufford said. "We also can share staffing resources."

Trilogy Health Services operates 109 communities throughout Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana and Michigan.

"Delphos is just such a nice small community, and we like to offer our product to these homey neighborhoods," Merriman said.

Interested community members can see the facility for themselves during an upcoming open house from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday. The Meadows of Delphos is located at 800 Ambrose Drive, near the intersection of State Route 30 and Lincoln Highway.
