BRIEF: Nurse jailed for allegedly stealing medications from elderly at nursing home

Meadville Tribune - 3/23/2018

March 23--A Springboro woman was jailed Thursday accused of allegedly claiming to give medications to nursing home residents but taking them herself.

Kim Marie Lesher, 51, a licensed practical nurse at Rolling Fields Elder Care Community, is accused of claiming to distribute medication to an 86-year-old female and an 80-year-old male residing at the facility from Feb. 21 to Thursday, according to a state police report.

Lesher would then allegedly fraudulently document distributing the medication and then ingest them by mouth, according to the state police report.

Lesher was arraigned Thursday before Magisterial District Judge Lincoln Zilhaver, acting for Judge Rita Marwood, on two felony counts of acquiring or possessing a controlled substance through misrepresentation and 30 third-degree misdemeanor counts of theft by unlawful taking.

State police filed the charges for incidents on Feb. 21.

Lesher was committed to the Crawford County jail in lieu of $10,000 monetary bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 5.
