Scarbro clinic to have Health Fair June 30

Register-Herald - 6/25/2018

June 25--In honor of its 40th year, New River Health, in conjunction with the Fayetteville County Health Department and the West Virginia Bureau of Public Health, will host a Community Appreciation Health Fair June 30 at its Scarbro medical clinic.

The fair, which is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., will offer free medical screening and immunizations, as well as information about different medical conditions, diseases and disaster preparations.

There will also be various activities catered toward children, healthy snack samples, diabetes education, smoking cessation techniques and oral cancer screenings.

Multiple different medical screenings -- PSA, A1C, CBC, etc. -- will be available at no cost during the fair.

For the fair New River Health is welcoming Bonnie's Bus, a mobile mammography unit that travels across West Virginia to offer breast cancer screenings.

Bonnie's Bus, which is operated in partnership with WVU hospitals, accepts Medicare, Medicaid, WVBCCSP (Breast and Cervical Cancer Program), and all private insurances.

Funds are available for uninsured West Virginia women age 40 or older.

Appointments for Bonnie's Bus are preferred but not required.

For more information on the health fair or Bonnie's Bus, call New River Health at 304-469-2905.
